Classical Guitar -- In the summer of 2007 I decided to finish
up what I had started as a high school senior in 1973, and
get my Bachelor of Music degree.  As Oliver Wendell Holmes
wrote:
"Many people die with their music still in them.
Why is this so?  Too often it is because they are always
getting ready to live.  Before they know it, time runs
out."
A very sobering thought indeed!  So, before time ran
out, I realized that I had run out of excuses for delaying my
dreams and went back to school full-time.  My goal?  To get
the degree he always wanted with a concentration in his first
love -- Classical Guitar.  I've dabbled in this genre of music
on and off over the years, but never formalized the
education that I knew I needed to master the music and my
instrument.

Thus far I've completed 2 years towards my goal and my
musical horizons have widened immensely.  This page will be
dedicated to my "school house" journey.  You will be able to
listen to some of my work in the world of Classical Guitar.
There will also be some tidbits and humorous items
pertaining to Classical Guitar -- there are a few of those here
right now!

Update:

On December 2, 2008 I performed the first of hopefully many
classical guitar recitals.  This was not a full-blown sophomore
recital, but it was be his first experience playing a program of
music pieces rather than just one.  He will perform:

-- Papageno's Theme by W.A. Mozart
-- Gavotte #1 and #2, by J.S. Bach, from his Cello Suite No. 6
-- Estudio en Si menor (Study in B minor) by Fernando Sor

Below are a few short pieces I have recorded.  Needless to
say, I am available to perform as a classical guitarist should
you have an occasion for one.  This music lends itself
perfectly for intimate dinner parties, cocktail hours prior to
wedding receptions or corporate events -- virtually anywhere
the warm tones of a classical guitar and the intricacies of
classical music outweigh the need for high energy dance
and popular tunes.  Of course, if you need both, then you
have definitely come to the right place!!  Enjoy the music
clips!

On April 21, 2009 I performed my sophomore recital.  The
theme of my program was "400 Years of Spanish Classical
Guitar", and it included selections from the Renaissance,
Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods.  The
program culminated with my very own arrangement of
Joaquin Malat's "Serenata Españla".  For that piece I was
accompanied by Sasha Molledo on castanets and Scott
Cockerham (my instructor) on guitar. What a tremendous
experience!!

In November, 2009, Scott (my teacher), and the entire Le
Monde band with reinforcements were contracted to provide
100% of the music for a wedding in St. Augustine.  Scott and
I played classical guitar during the ceremony.  Following the
ceremony, Scott and his son Scotty, and I provided "smooth
jazz and easy listening" during dinner.  Then the fun began
when the entire band, with Scotty on saxophone and flute,
kept the wedding party and guests rocking!  Visit our photo
page for pics of this fantastic engagement!! (Thanks to Kristi
& Franck for the pics!!)
