* José A. Lebrón *

Founder, director, lead vocals, classical and acoustic
guitar.
I was born on April 4, 1955 in Santurce, Puerto Rico,
and began playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. I’ve
been singing for as long as I can remember.  During my high
school years, I performed in several night club style revues
that took me to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and The El San
Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico.

Throughout my college years, I played in or led several
bands, playing mostly pop and rock music, and some Latin
music for good measure.  Upon graduating from the
University of Puerto Rico, I was commissioned a Second
Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  During my Army career, I
continued to perform wherever and whenever my military
duties would permit. While stationed in Germany, I sang at
local bistros, restaurants and night clubs, but the highlight of
my Army days was when I performed once a month with a big
band in Bad Canstadt, just outside of Stuttgart, Germany.
What a thrill!!  After retiring from the Army, I moved to the
Washington, DC metro area, where I continued to perform at
piano bars, restaurants, an occasional big band gig, and
charity events for the American Cancer Society. A lucrative
job offer in 1998 took me to Jacksonville, Florida, where
musically speaking I eventually picked up where I left off in
Virginia.  In January 2005, along with a few “compadres” I
founded the Le Monde Quartet.  Our first gig was for the
Mercedes Benz Super Bowl XL Saturday party in Atlantic
Beach, FL.  By December of 2005, we were playing an
average of 4 nights a week, and that’s when I decided to
dedicate myself full-time to my music.

I consider myself a saloon singer, a Bohemian soul who
happens to play the guitar, and I think my style and repertoire
reflect that.  In 2005 I performed at the Jacksonville Jazz
Festival with YaGoZo, a popular local Latin Jazz ensemble.
My musical influences have been Jose Feliciano, Chicago,
Santana, The Beatles, Francis Albert Sinatra, and Antonio
Carlos Jobim.  My three passions are my music, golf, and my
Cocker Spaniels named Cuatro and Cinco.

I enjoy telling folks that the highlight of my musical career was
when I won a children’s’ singing contest at the age of 5, while
sailing with my mother on the USS Darby, enroute to Paris,
France in 1960. The song I performed to win first prize was
“Old Mac Donald Had a Farm”.  My singing career has been
in steady decline since then!

I currently reside in Cape Canaveral, Florida. I perform
regularly at Chaparral Mexican Grill in Cocoa, FL and
Silvestro's in Cocoa Beach, FL.  Most recently, I’ve been
hired to play occasionally at the Alamo Mexican Kitchen in
Rockledge, FL.  I’m presently pursuing a music degree, with
concentration in Classical Guitar under the instruction of
Scott Cockerham from Titusville, FL.
